Åmotan just south of Gjøra in Sunndal, and only 30 min from Oppdal, is very much worth a visit, as this type of natural water system cannot be found anywhere else in Norway, and perhaps in the whole world.

A truly unique, natural phenomenon, right here in Norway! Steep mountain cliffs, moraine ridges and terraces create a fan-shaped river system where seven rivers meet. Three of these form magnificent waterfalls dropping into Åmotan.

The area has been organised with clearly marked trails, along with appropriate maps. These trails provide amazing nature experiences, in a very distinctive landscape, and offer a choice of hikes of varying difficulty. Should you wish to walk even further after your adventure, there are multiple trails in several directions, offering a wide variety of terrain and distance, and taking you further into this beautiful countryside.

We offer Tractor Safari Åmotan, a guided tour of eastern part of Øvre Sunndal, together with the opportunity to taste some delicious local food. The tour starts in a trailer equipped with seats for 28 people enjoy the view and listen to the storytelling. The trip leaves from Jenstad and we head to Middagshjellan the old mountain paisture farm, and the surrounding mountain areas.

We also offer tailor-made guided tour with or without BBQ servering in the outdoor or inside the barn at Jenstad. Choose also from several locations, as well as activities such as fishing for mountain trout 1300m above sea level.
